Looking inside preferences

A few general remarks:

  • Instead of other android apps, which store the settings directly when changing them, I am using an "Apply" Button.
Just make sure, to press apply whenever you've changed something.
  • You open up the extra settings via clicking the three dots on the top right corner

  • Show Log
Show log file of the currently selected module:
    pref_02_de
You can see here any SMS which has been sent and also the answers from the module.
    Quite useful for troubleshooting.
Lines with >> are outgoing messages and << are incoming messages.
  • Delete Log
Delete log of the currently selected module.
To delete all available log files, please see preferences.

  • Set Language
Here you can switch the language of the app on the fly.
At the moment only english and german is included.
If you want to translate the app into something else, just drop me a mail.
  • Request Send Notification
You can dis/enable this feature. Providers usually notify the app, when the SMS has been successfully sent to it.
Just to the provider not to the receiver!
But you are on the safe side if it reaches the provider already, anything else will be handled by the provider than.
Successful sent SMS will be marked with [ok] in the logfiles.
  • Waiting period between two transmissions errors
Whenever you receive an error from the provider you should wait a few seconds before trying it again.
5 seconds is a usable value
  • Abort after ... trials.
This is to avoid trying to send the same SMS again and again.
There seems to be something wrong anyway, maybe you have a very bad signal strength on site.
Better try again later from a different place.
    3 trials should be fair.

  • Backup settings
With this parameter you set the amount of backup (config) files, which will be created.
Whenever you change something in a config file, a new backup will be created.
    5 backups should be o.k.
  • Settings for Email Scan
Here you can set the period and time of the email scan.
All modules which have been activated will then be scanned with this interval.
  • Start App with FW.
If you know, that all of your used modules are new ones, you could force the app to start always with all features enabled.
  • Apply
None of the above mentioned options will take effect until you press this button.

  • Delete all logfiles
Delete all logfiles which have been created for any of your modules.
  • Delete all backup files
Delete all backup files, doesn't matter to which module it belongs.
  • Delete all measurements
Delete any of the stored measurements
  • Defrag Database
Whenever you delete huge amounts of data (e.g. measurements), the database won't get any smaller.
This is by design for speed reasons.
From time to time you could do a defrag of the database to delete those "holes".
But in case your file is huge, the defrag could need quite some time.
